The Bosch 0 986 221 057 is a genuine branded plug-top (pencil) ignition coil sold by MECA RB. Bosch type ZS-K 1x1, 14 V. Each coil sits directly on one spark plug and feeds it with high voltage, so there are no HT leads. It replaces VW group OE numbers 04C 905 110 D, H, J and L, fitted to the EA211 TSI petrol engines in the VW Golf VII, Polo, Audi A3 8V, Skoda Octavia III and Seat Leon III.
A failing coil usually shows up as a misfire on one cylinder, a flashing engine warning light and rough idle. Bosch is an original-equipment ignition supplier to Volkswagen.
Fitting advice: with the engine off and cold, unplug the 4-pin connector, pull the old coil straight up and push the new one fully onto the spark plug. If the plugs are due, replace them at the same time. Clear the fault codes afterwards.
